A simple process with profound potential

A few questions can turn bad feelings into good ones in just a few minutes.
The Tangible Minds Practice involves focusing on the inner sensations of feeling states and describing them with vivid sensory imagery. This method makes vague feelings seem more like tangible objects you can walk around, examine, and manipulate. Once you've created the imagery object you can deliberately alter the image, shifting temperature or heaviness, for example. When you do, your inner experience of the feeling state itself actually changes at the same time.
Do this systematically, for all qualities of the image, and you swiftly arrive at a new feeling state that is authentic, resourceful, and just plain feels good. You feel more true to yourself, you gain insight into the reasons for the old feeling, and you tap into an empowered wisdom about how to move forward in a way that supports your highest good. It only takes about 20 minutes. It's disarming how easy this is, and astonishing how profound the results can be when done in the context of the full practice.
Here's one example of a feeling before and after this brief process.

HungerAn emptiness in my heart. Size of a softball. Dark. Heavy. Warm. Like a large ball of black rubber cement, sticky, lumpy, inert. Some translucency, like lots of dirt or graphite embedded in the lump. Has a slow undulation, like there's something alive in it that's almost dead. A heaviness. Sound is a long, pathetic sigh. More universal than just my voice, like a sigh for all humanity. Beliefs It's just so sad, not having the loving support that makes sense. It's just so sad, that people are so damaged, so confused, so closed, that they forget how to love even a child. It's just so sad, that the child I was could be so lonely. |
Dancing LightTemp is a good, dry warm, a radiant warmth. Yellow, a pale yellow light. Fills my body, and is bigger than my body, extends out four inches or so. There's a quantity of light-substance that fills my body and interactively engages with others. A light, funky percussion sound. It can reach out further, with interactive arms of light that dance. It's playful. Beliefs I can dance. I am dance. I glow with dance. I play. I am light. Therefore I can interact playfully. There's nothing to be serious about. Life is good. I love life. I love you, whoever you are. We can play. I want to play with you. |

What can you expect if you do this work?
The example above is from my own work with myself. You can see the full set of feeling states I worked through on the Gallery page. I called the issue, "Longing for a Partner." The crux of the issue was a deep sense of being terminally alone, that I would never meet a partner who could meet me the way I wanted.
I worked through a full set of nine feeling states, plus the related witness states, in about three days. Immediately after completing the work, I felt a different capacity in myself to meet others, and to allow myself to be vulnerable and present to a potential partner. Two days later I meet a woman with whom I felt fully met, in a way I had never imagined possible. Almost half a year later, we are blissfully planning a fabulous life together. Today, I can barely remember what it was like to exist for most of my life with the hunger, and other feelings and beliefs that kept me so unsatisfied.
Now, it may happen, but I can't promise you such instant results. I will promise you, however, that you will have access and insight into your deepest self. I will promise you that, one feeling at a time, you will steadily uncover your authentic truth and reconnect with your greatest power and highest wisdom.
It's hard work, with steady, satisfying progress.
The ease with which you may experience a negative feeling state becoming suddenly positive could lead you to believe that transforming your entire life will be just as easy. But the truth is, we are very complex beings, and sometimes the work will be difficult – there's no getting around that. Growth requires persistence and effort, no matter what path you follow.
What you do have with the Tangible Minds Practice, however, is a way to break the path down into individual, simple steps. Each feeling you map and move is a doorway to a piece of your truth that's been lost. Bit by bit, you assemble the whole.
Not only that, but there is a clear structure to the work. There is a beginning, middle and end to every issue you take on. And there is an internal, discernable architecture to your psyche that makes it relatively easy to know where you are along the way.
